2018 SKIN TRENDS
Glowing skin is always trendy and we’ve got some must do’s if you wish to have skin confidence!
Skin confidence plays such a huge part of our self esteem and our skin is often the first thing people notice about us… How it looks and feels can really effect how we feel about ourselves. Having glowing, healthy, youthful skin is something that everyone can achieve. You are never too young or too old to start to care for you skin!
So, what’s trending for skin in 2018…
1. Vitamin A
Vitamin A-MAZING… This is the key ingredient needed to future-proof your skin!
Vitamin A is the greatest deficiency in the world. Most people are unaware that they suffer from a chronic, localised deficiency of vitamin A. As vitamin A is light sensitive it is destroyed every day in our skin and that is the main reason why we develop photo ageing. You could say that the skin is constantly in need of vitamin A.
Dr Des Fernandes
Known as the skin’s normalising vitamin, vitamin A is ultimately responsible for ensuring your skin is healthy and youthful.
So what does vitamin A do for your skin?
- Encourages the synthesis of healthy collagen and elastin for a firmer looking skin.
- Promotes a healthy dermis and epidermis resulting in a smoother appearance and texture.
- Normalises how a skin cell functions and can influence its behaviour to act more youthfully.
- Helps improve pigmentation, leaving your skin more even toned in appearance.
- Improves problematic skin conditions by normalising sebaceous gland activity.
- Encourages the natural moisturising factors to promote a healthy barrier function leaving the skin hydrated.
- Supports skin immunity to help maintain a healthier-looking skin.
- Asborbs UV energy and is a natural sunscreen. The more vitamin A the more protection.
(when used the correct form and dose)
There are a few important things to consider when selecting a vitamin A based skin care product…
What form of vitamin A is used? What dose of vitamin A is in the product and will it be effective? How was the product manufactured? How is the product packaged? Is the product backed by science, with proven results?
Environ Skin Care (http://www.environskincare.com) ticks all these boxes! Dr Des Fernandes (Environ founder & world renowned plastic surgeon) and his team are the world leaders and pioneers in the use of topical Vitamin A to treat skin health.
For more than 20 years Dr Fernandes has been continually researching, developing and trialing which forms of Vitamin A are the most effective to safely rejuventate the skin. Some forms and doses of Vitamin A can cause a Retinoid Response – the use of too much Vitamin A, too quickly. This happens because the skin is Vitamin A deficient! To prevent the chance of a Retinoid Response, Environ’s unqiue STEP-UP SYSTEM is designed to slowly introduce Vitamin A back into the skin allowing it to gradually become accustomed to higher, more effective doses.
The Environ moisturisers are presitigiously endorsed by the Swiss Vitamin Insitute to verify that the products tested contain the vitamin strength declared. This guarantees the active effectivness specified by Environ. Not many other companies carry this certifcate of endorsement.
Environ follow strict protocols to guarantee the efficacy of your products. The products are manufactured under pharmaceutical grade conditions and are packaged to be protected from heat, light and air. Most products are manufactured every 2-4 weeks, so you can be sure that you are receiving fresh, active products.
The philosophy of Environ Skin Care is based on science, all of their products are back by science and are clinically trialed before being released.
The longer you use it (Vitamin A), the healthier your skin will look!
2. Cosmetic Needling
A must for those who want the ultimate in skin care!
Some would say that this is ‘old’ technology, that might be so… But the results that one of these devices can achieve, is phenomenal!
The biggest obstacle we have when treating skin, is being able to penetrate active ingredients through our protective barrier, the stratum corneum (outer-most layer of the skin). The science behind Cosmetic Needling, is to create micro-channels in the stratum corneum to allow for enhanced product penetration. Once you have created the micro-channels using a cosmetic needling device, the active ingredients can then penetrate down into the dermis (active layers of the skin) where they are most effective. The more micro-channels you create in your skin the better the penetration.
Dr Fernandes was the world pioneer of Advanced Skin Perfusion back in the 1990’s. He has since developed a Roll-CIT for large areas and a Focus-CIT stamp for more specific areas such as the eyes and lips. The tiny needles on these devices penetrate the skin to the maximum depth of 0.2mm, at this depth the needling can barely be felt. You should needle as intensely and frequently as your feel comfortable. Ideally 5 nights a week.
Cosmetic needling can even be incorporated into your regular Environ skin treatments.
Superior anti-ageing technology!
3. Regular skin treatments
Treat your skin to one of the most effective, non-invasive skin treaments availble in the world… The results are incredible!
If you’re serious about skin health and skin confidence, then incorporating skin treatments into your routine is a must! Regular skin treatments are about complementing your home care regimen and giving the skin the extra boost it needs to function efficiently. The more frequent the treatments, the greater the results you will achieve.
There’s no fluff and buff here… Its all about science and technology. At the forefront of scientific skin is Environ’s DF (Des Fernandes – he likes to name things after himself) Machine which combines two sophisticated technologies. Low Frequency Sonophoresis uses sound waves to create cavitations and Pulsed Iontophoresis uses electrical current to stimulate the skin. The combination of these technologies allows the active molecules in Environ’s Professional skin care products to permeate deeper and more effectively, delivering significantly more nutrients to where the skin needs it the most.
The DF Machine is used to treat a wide variety of skin concerns: scar tissue and acne scars, problematic skin, photo-ageing and uneven skin tone, large pores and uneven skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, dull and dry skin, thin and lax skin, dark under eye circles, sensitive skin and stretch marks.
Delivering real visible results!
4. Sun Protection
Prevention is better than cure…
Ultimately our skin health comes down to how we look after our skin, and how we protect it. Our skin is a very vunerable organ, that is susceptible to damage from a variety of situations. Factors such as UV rays from the sun, environmental pollutents and smoking create free radicals in the skin. Free radicals have a really negative effect on the skin by causing DNA damage, this alters how cells should behave which eventually leads to photo-ageing. Nobody wants to look older than they are!
When it comes to protecting our skin the first rule is we must protect it daily – that means every day of the year! You need to use a broad spectrum sunscreen to protect the skin against both UVA (ageing) and UVB (burning) rays. An SPF 15-20 will provide adequate protection, when used appropriately. The other important ingredient that your skin needs is high doses of antioxidants, antioxidants are free radical scavengers and will help minimise the damage caused in the skin. The best way to feed your skin with antioxidants it to apply them topically.
